Thee Sinseers Nashville Concert reviews
Neil Finn's still got it
Neil Finn's voice is still as great as ever, and the band is still in excellent form. The older songs were finely honed, concise masterpieces, like "Don't Dream It's Over" and "Distant Sun." Some of the new material is still strong. The tour features a lot of songs from the band's current album, to be expected. The band played enough of the older material to keep the show engaging and gratifying. The newer songs aren't the pop gems of the earlier days, more experimental and atmospheric for the most part. Unfortunately, the contrast was evident, but a lot of the songs seemed to wander off into delay-saturated noodling.
Overall, the musicianship was excellent, though Neils guitar tone was a little thin. Mark Hart's guitar work was awesome. The band has a great sense of humor, evident throughout the set. Like Neil joking that Nick Seymour didn't know the note names, so they had to tell him what dots to play on the fretboard. The Woodface tour was better, yes, but Thee Sinseers is still an awesome band and well worth seeing.
